Commission Pieces – Mike Slobot’s Bot 1 and Bot 2

We just finished these up.  These are based on colorations from Dr. Suess for a collector.  They stand about 3” tall and have lots of glow in the dark.

andy warhol = prolific.

“Andy Warhol works (the foundation estimate there are more than 100,000 of them) accounted for an estimated 17 per cent of the Contemporary auction market in 2010.” (full article here)

100,000 pieces and 17% of the contemporary auction market in 2010!  wow.  talk about being a prolific artist.  is it real or is it warhol?  unfortunately, the link about is about some snafu with a board of Warhol scholars that were trying to verify real Warhol works vs. fake Warhol works – nevertheless, 100,000 works in a lifetime is amazing in the scope of creation.

i consider some of my slobot work to be modern takes on Andy’s legacy, like this Star Wars Wampa that i turned into a slobot.

Mike Slobot presents Transporter-2

MikeSlobot_Transporter2_01

This is a new Slobot commission created by Mike Slobot.  Transporter-2 is approximately 15" tall, includes many glow in the dark parts, as well as a removable figure.  This commission was created for a client who is a wheel chair user.  He is interested in human-robot interaction and how robots might be a valuable, meaningful part of our lives in the future - a vision after Mike's own heart.

The Bub-Bot

really like this Bub bot that Andy over at toysrevil recently wrote about:

from TRE:  From Indonesia-toy enthusiast Kong Andri comes a custom dubbed BUB-BOT - customized from a Mini Bub and ready to destroy all competition at the Munnyworld Megacontest (Vote on it here by clicking "Like"). King added: "my inspiration comes from my new obsession of ThreeA toys, so i made my own version of it … He is a robot invented to protect the Munny World from thousands of aliens that wants to invade the land.

ads cause fasle memories!

i KNEW it!

Great quote from the Article in Wired about how a well crafted Ad can shape our memories...

"It’s the difference between a “Save” and the “Save As” function. Our memories are a “Save As”: They are files that get rewritten every time we remember them, which is why the more we remember something, the less accurate the memory becomes."
