Mike Slobot presents Transporter-2

MikeSlobot_Transporter2_01

This is a new Slobot commission created by Mike Slobot.  Transporter-2 is approximately 15" tall, includes many glow in the dark parts, as well as a removable figure.  This commission was created for a client who is a wheel chair user.  He is interested in human-robot interaction and how robots might be a valuable, meaningful part of our lives in the future - a vision after Mike's own heart.

robot art by mike slobot space ace 7 custom Jouwe

Meet Space Ace 7 – my entry into the Jouwe custom show at TAG Gallery in LA on October 2, 2010.

“The Space Ace 7 is a heavy lifting, space travelling slobot. He spends long hours with his space friends building and repairing spaceships. Many hours under ultraviolet radiation have left his metal skin with a slight glow.”

Mike Slobot’s Robot Art - The Mechanobot Project

mikeslobot_mechanobot_6

Back once again – its Mike Slobot with the Mechanobot, and new, one of a kind slobot sculpture.  This commission was created to accompany a found object motorcycle sculpture.

His story:

“The Mechanobot is a brass tacks, no-nonsense slobot that loves nothing more than working on a motorcycle. Long hours holding a wrench bring him pure delight, and he specializes in detailed reconstruction work. Mechanobot carries around his own supply of grease, oil, and gas on his back, with his trusty ‘combo grease gun’ at his side.”

Stands about 14” tall, found objects, old and new toys, rubber, glass, paint, etc.  Eye, wires, and hand lights glow in the dark.

Why, yes, he does have his very own skull tattoo reminding him of the horrors of war…mikeslobot_mechanobot_tattoo

slobots get a write up in Japanese Mag “Mono”

KaijuComrades2_Mono_Web

There’s been some press for the Kaiju Comrades II show that the slobots participated in.  the show took place at Tokyo’s Design Festa Gallery in the Harajuku district.  the roster of artists was huge, and the slobots were fortunate to get some great coverage in the Japanese magazine “Mono” – thanks to Mark Nagata for including us in the show, and for sending along images of the magazine!  Bigger pic of the mag below…. since we don’t speak Japanese, we can only assume that its good, since the “Abominable Slobot” got such great placement!

By, the way, you can buy the Abominable Slobot <here>

More pics from the show and the magazine below….
